Tate Modern is one of the world’s leading institutions for contemporary art, known for presenting ambitious, globally significant artists within a strong curatorial framework. Its exhibitions often extend beyond the gallery through carefully considered retail pieces that reflect the integrity of the work on view. For the Jenny Holzer presentation, the merchandise program translated the exhibition’s conceptual weight into refined, collectible product.
Jenny Holzer is celebrated for her text-based practice, using language as a powerful visual and political tool across mediums. For this project, the long sleeve embroidery featured a custom script illustration by Rizza Boo, developed specifically to interpret Holzer’s language in a tactile, wearable format. The result balanced clarity and sensitivity, allowing the garment to function as an extension of the artwork while introducing a distinct hand-drawn character through the illustrated script.
